ANGELINA GAVRILOVA
Angelina Gavrilova is a choreographer, dancer, and educator working in the field of contemporary dance. Since 2025, she has been the Artistic Director of Ballet “Arabesque”. She graduated in Classical Dance from NUTI and holds a Master’s degree in Ballet Directing from the National Academy of Music “Pancho Vladigerov”, where she is also a faculty member.
A long-standing soloist of Ballet “Arabesque” (1996–2024), she has developed her stage experience through a repertoire of over 80 works, collaborating with prominent Bulgarian and international choreographers. Since 2007, she has been working as a freelance choreographer.
She is the author of numerous original performances and choreographic works for ballet, opera, and drama productions, including The Silence Within Me, Push On, The Barber of Seville, Sector 7, My Path with You, The Snow Queen, Bulgaria – Blessed Land, Le Nozze di Figaro, Caligula, Don Pasquale, Dead Souls, The Adventures of Cipollino, Walpurgis Night, Infinity, Hidden Lemons, and In the Beginning and Forever.
Her choreographic language is characterized by strong physicality, precision in dramaturgical structure, and an ongoing exploration of the relationship between movement, space, and stage presence.
She has collaborated with leading cultural institutions and companies in Bulgaria and abroad, including Ballet “Arabesque”, the State Operas of Stara Zagora, Plovdiv, and Ruse, the Ivan Vazov National Theatre, NATFA “Krastyo Sarafov”, Theatre “Sofia”, and various international organizations.
She is the recipient of numerous national and international awards, including a choreography award from the International Ballet Competition – Varna, Best Contemporary Choreographer at the European Ballet Grand Prix (Vienna), the Crystal Lyre Award, the Impulse Award, and the award for contemporary choreography from the International Ballet Competition “Sara-Nora Prima” (2024, 2025).
