Denys Cherevychko
Denys Cherevychko is an International Guest Principal acclaimed for his rare combination of technical mastery, dramatic depth, and fearless adaptability. Born in Donetsk, Ukraine, he began his training at Vadim Pisarev’s Academy before winning first prize at the Serge Lifar Competition, which brought him to the Heinz Bosl Ballet Academy in Munich. There he studied under Alexandr Prokofiev, the legendary teacher of Irek Mukhamedov and Andris Liepa, inheriting a tradition that shaped his philosophy: ballet is not just technical perfection, but presence, storytelling, and artistry. In 2006, Denys joined the Vienna State Ballet, where he was promoted to Principal Dancer in 2012 by Manuel Legris. Over his career, he has performed more than 60 classical and contemporary works, with highlights including Roland Petit’s Le Jeune Homme et la Mort in Florence alongside Alessandra Ferri, and Nureyev’s Don Quixote with the Paris Opera Ballet. His artistry has earned him gold and silver medals at the Varna, Jackson, and Korea competitions, as well as a nomination for the Prix Benois de la Danse. For Denys, ballet is storytelling: “I don’t want the audience to admire technique — I want them to feel something.” Each role, from Basilio to Siegfried, is approached as distinct, lived-in, and emotionally truthful. Beyond the stage, Denys is the founder of Balance by Cherevychko, the category-defining house of performance couture for men in motion, merging elegance and endurance into a new standard for male dancers worldwide.
